Flying Bison Home Runs Already Generating 15,000+ Meals Ahead of Food Bank Night at the Ballpark
ABILENE, Texas — June 15, 2026
Fans who bring a bag of food on June 17 will receive a free ticket to a future Abilene Flying Bison home game
ABILENE, Texas — June 15, 2026 — Baseball is already making an impact beyond the scoreboard in Abilene.
Through a new community partnership between the Abilene Flying Bison and the Food Bank of West Central Texas, Flying Bison home runs are helping provide meals for local families facing hunger. Thanks to Oracle's support as the campaign's Home Run Sponsor, every Flying Bison home run this season represents a $1,000 donation to the Food Bank. The Bison's first two home runs have already generated $3,000 in campaign impact—enough to help provide more than 15,000 meals across West Central Texas.
Oracle has teamed up with the Food Bank of West Central Texas to support the season-long Knocking Hunger Out of the Park campaign, helping transform Flying Bison home runs into meals for neighbors facing hunger across West Central Texas.
Now, the Food Bank and Flying Bison are inviting the community to take part in the effort during Food Bank Night at the ballpark on Wednesday, June 17, at Crutcher Scott Field at ACU.
Fans who bring a bag of nonperishable food to the game will receive one free ticket to any remaining 2026 Abilene Flying Bison home game. The evening will also include special giveaways, Food Bank staff and volunteers on-site, and opportunities for fans to learn how they can help fight hunger locally.
"Community partnerships help turn local excitement into local impact," said Brandon Forrest, President and CEO of the Food Bank of West Central Texas. "The energy around the Flying Bison's season has been incredible, and we're grateful for the opportunity to connect with fans while raising awareness and support for neighbors facing hunger."
The Food Bank of West Central Texas serves a 13-county area across nearly 13,000 square miles. In 2026, the organization is on track to distribute nearly 5 million pounds of food and serve 90,000 neighbors throughout West Central Texas.
Most-needed food items include peanut butter, canned protein, canned beans, canned fruit, canned vegetables, whole grain rice, whole grain pasta, and whole grain cereal.
Food Bank Night is part of the season-long "Knocking Hunger Out of the Park" campaign, a community impact partnership designed to connect Flying Bison baseball with hunger relief efforts across West Central Texas.
